If you have stumbled upon this article welcome. This is my first ramble about the discovery of probably one of the most innovated and interesting cryptocurrencies to be invested in since Bitcoin. The crypto I am talking about here is called Kaspa.

To begin, Kaspa is the ancient Aramaic word for silver and this crypto uses something totally different from blockchain it instead uses something called BlockDAG. Now, much of the technology goes completely over my head but to put it simply, BlockDAG technology allows blocks to mined in a different way. On Bitcoin blocks are mined every 10min in a straight line moving forward and looks something like this.

On Kaspa blocks are mined in multiple ways that are not just in a straight line and each block is mined every 1 second which looks something like this.

What makes Kaspa an Alternative to Bitcoin?

When I say alternative I do not mean to completely ditch Bitcoin and only buy Kaspa but instead I mean that it is an alternative to actually have a cryptocurrency complete Satoshi's original vision. What is this vision? Well, I will quote it from the whitepaper itself.

Bitcoin: A Peer-to-Peer Electronic Cash System

I think many people ignore the fact that Bitcoin has failed to become that electronic cash system and has now grown to be a store of value or in other words a digital gold. I do not believe when people say that this was Satoshi's original vision cause it was not. Bitcoin is to slow to be scaled and used for transactions on a global scale but Kaspa has come in to finish what Satoshi visioned.

How Does Kaspa Stand Out From Other Cryptocurrencies?

To answer this question I think I could say that ultimately it actually trying to be a currency. Crypto today has totally lost its meaning and has now become a casino for companies to get around IPO listings and instead fund their company through some kind of token claiming to solve something. Kaspa did something very difficult and decided to go against the popular idea of crypto (DeFi & NFTs) and instead adopt Satoshi’s vision, a PoW, fair launched, non-pre-mined cryptocurrency.

Kaspa’s Goals

Kaspa aims to be the fastest PoW cryptocurrency in the world and has already pretty much achieve this. A crypto that is closely compared to Kaspa is Litecoin which aimed to be the digital silver while Bitcoin becomes the digital gold. Litecoin failed in this task as it is still not faster or even capable of being a type of silver. Silver is highly liquid and much easier to move around and use in the real world and this is what Kaspa is aiming to be a digital silver. Kaspa is currently still in early devlopment but ran by the community. Our focus currently is to build the base layer to be as secured, fast, and decentralized as possible. 1 BPS is Kaspa’s current block speed but currently it is in testing to get to 32 BPS at minimum and even up to 100!

This is a short introductory to Kaspa and will look forward to writing more about this revolutionary tech that Kaspa has to offer. Consider subscribing to my youtube channel where I am covering education and my opinion about Kaspa daily at the moment. https://www.youtube.com/@KaspaSilver
