I think these problems probably also apply to women in plumbing, at a event for plumbing parts fx.

People are still a it to baffled about seeing women in some trades when they are minority, like in programming or construction, which means they are likely to act stupid or make a wrong assumption based on your appearance.

The obvious solution today’ is to either just dress/act the way to want to be perceived, or the way you personally like best, depending on how you priorities lay.

The latter solution is probably a better solution longterm, since it would condition society to think differently over time.

It’s a slow process unfortunately tho, and choosing the latter option is obviously going to work against you, when dealing with a lot of people.
