How to Make Cool Art

Head over to the world of Midjourney to discover your artistic potential.

First, you have to set up your phone or other device.

1. Install Discord. It is a social messaging app with lots of cool functions. Make an account.
2. Join the Midjourney community on Discord. You have a few free prompts and for more you have to pay like.
3. Start by entering one of the newbie channels and type /imagine and the list of functions will come up. Select imagine and type in your prompt. Press enter and give some time for your image to generate.
4. Four images are generated for every prompt. You can choose to upscale whichever one(s) or create variations of them.

The real question is now one of prompt engineering. What makes a good prompt? You can notoriously write “googoogaagaa” and Midjourney will produce something of quality. But here are a few tips.

1. For the subject of the painting select something you are passionate about or something you worship such as “Mitra the Anointed”.
2. Then you can add styles by simply adding things like “by Jamie Hewlett”. And increase the style factor with “–stylize 1000”.
3. Useful commands are “–ar 3:2” and “–ar 2:3” which make the composition landscape or portrait, respectively.

Your final prompt will be something like “Mitra the Anointed above Waterloo, by Jamie Hewlett –ar 3:2 –stylize 1000”.
