I can’t remember where I read it that there was a guy who struggled with some kind of social anxiety and found a very drastic way to cure it: whenever he traveled on the subway he loudly announced every single stop to his fellow passengers.
Obviously, he got a few weird looks for the first few announcements and from people who were just getting on the train, but after a while no one even looked at him.
The point was to prove to himself that even if you do something truly dumb, people will not really give a shit and even if they do, nothing catastrophic will happen.
Ever since this story pops into my mind whenever I face a situation which triggers my social anxiety, and it helps a lot. :) If someone knows where I could have read or heard this, please let me know.
