It is, of course, important to protect women (or rather, the idea of women) from bad people (or rather, the idea of bad people). And naturally, a rich, white conservative like Donald Trump cannot be a bad person. Our society places far too much value upon people like him for that to be the case.
It is natural to default to centering our morality around the idea of a black and white world, and less natural to actually examine the reality of the world’s moral grays in depth. This is something we’re all guilty of, but it’s fascinating how core it is to the morally conservative viewpoint.
