An open letter to Senator Orrin Hatch (R-UT) and Senator Michael S. Lee (R-UT):
Jon Mott

Just this morning, I was called a “hypocritical disingenuous prog” for saying very much the same thing. I confess that I didn’t say it as clearly or in as measured a tone as you do. In defense of this nonsense, many folks have invoked the letter of the Constitution or “Biden’s rule” (hint: not a thing), but I find those defenses utterly spurious. What you say so well and so clearly here is that there is a vast difference between what elected officials can do and what they should do.

And by the way, wasn’t it Orrin Hatch who once called Garland a “consensus nominee?” Sigh.

Thanks for this.
