Bhutan should be #1 on this list! It is the only carbon negative country in the world (yes, carbon negative. NOT carbon neutral). And it’s constitution mandates 60% of its landmass remains protected forests (and last I heard they were actually maintaining closer to 70%). Every tourist who travels there pays a tariff to the government and most of that money goes towards retaining these accomplishments and furthering their green initiatives. It is the most amazing place I’ve ever been from an ecological and conservation perspective… and simply a wonderful country to visit for so many other reasons as well!
