Thank you Chelsea for articulating so well what I have been explaining with analogies to a certain husband I know ;)
Richard, a political party is only as good as its people, its current people. Whilst 1980s Labour was a neo-liberal disaster mostly controlled by Roger Douglas and Richard Prebble (who went on to form Act party) doesn’t mean Labour is set in concrete on that course forever — a lot has changed since the 80s.
The Greens do have great people and policies, but will only have impact if people vote for them.
TOP could also be great coalition partners IF they get over the 5% threshold. Whatever the imperfections and our hopes for a different future, we also have to deal with the here and now. There are 300k children going hungry in NZ and 40k plus homeless (these numbers have risen sharply under National) — they need you to vote for them, for a Govt who may actually do something real here and now for them.
We have to deal with today while we work for tomorrow.
Love Chelsea’s line:
Vote to say “sit there, please, hold the fort for us while we build something new, and be ready to help me when I’ve got something for us to use at scale”.
