Why School Shooter Drills Are Terrifying Nonsense

I don’t know the statistics in the US, but looking at the UK, the most likely way for a child to die are in a road traffic accident or an accident in the home. So schools could use the time for those paranoia-inducing ‘how to hide’ lessons (and please don't go back to ‘how to react in a nuclear attack —’duck and cover’, anyone?) on road safety lessons, and parents’ groups on home safety (electrical socket covers, stair gates for toddlers, keeping harmful household cleansing materials and medications out of children's’ reach, safety glass etc etc. And children are way more likely to be abused in the home than by a stranger —so ‘how to spot the signs’ for parents and teachers.
