When I first joined Twitter, it was for two reasons. One was that Kristin Hersh was on it. The other was that Kay Hanley was on it. At the time it seemed beyond cool that I could be muddling through a souvenir shop at the beach and suddenly be accosted by music news. It felt like I was part of a secret society, rather than how it feels now, like I’m hooked up to a variable-interval insult-delivery machine.
