Mercy For Animals, Canada, has just released an undercover investigation into the country’s largest dairy farm, which I was grateful to provide commentary for. Untreated abscesses, mastitis (yep, that is pus gets into our milk!), and lameness coupled with wanton violence. Not a pretty sight.
Dairy might be tasty but it involves too many nasties under our current methods of production. I find it very challenging to watch these animals suffer under our self-designated ‘care’; and sometimes even harder to watch my fellow humans suffer a degree of pain inside themselves so significant as to cause them to inflict it on those more vulnerable. We all have a responsibility, given the opportunity, to understand what our actions contribute to. As empathetic souls I think that most of us would not find this acceptable and as grand thinkers and creators I think it’s time to start challenging our accepted state of collective cognitive dissonance.
