A Filter for Feminism in Dating

I’m ashamed to admit it, but I used to be a feminist. Not a hardcore feminist by any means, but I believed it when people told me there were things like a wage gap.

When I was first introduced to FDR, I remember having a debate with an FDRer about whether feminism was important or not. I brought up things I’d heard, like the wage gap, and one by one he shared articles and links with me about how it was all bullshit. I clicked the links, and started putting the real picture together in my mind, I remember feeling this sinking sensation. “Oh… I was wrong…”

I was really grateful the guy was patient with me and didn’t yell at me or write me off for believing all the things I’d heard. I was raised in a conservative family, but I went to a liberal college. They hammer all that feminist rhetoric hardcore. It’s awful. So much misinformation.

For me, I respected the FDRer I was talking to and took the time to read and explore the subject after he told me I was wrong. If a girl shows curiosity, I think that’s a good sign. If she doubles down when you point her in the right direction, run.

Great article, Connor. :)
