What does magical mean to me?
What does magical mean to you? Everyone has their own definition of the word. For some, going to Disney World is magical. For others, it’s watching a romantic comedy or a barefoot walk on the beach at sunset. Some even describe falling in love as being magical.
What does magical mean to me? I can sum it up in three words you’ll find painted on wooden boards all over Hobby Lobby or hanging in a friend’s kitchen…Faith, Hope, Love.
You see, for me, the magic of life is found in the most unsuspecting times and places — like keeping faith when it seems the odds are stacked against you and holding on to hope when giving up would be so much easier. It’s in the midst of the storm where rainbows spread their magical wings. And it’s within the storm you begin to learn to love and appreciate the little things and become grateful for what you have.
In 1 Corinthians 13:13, the Bible says, “Three things will last forever: faith, hope, and love-and the greatest of these is love.” I must admit I’m guilty of skipping over this verse because I hear it so often. It seems too simple.
Faith. Hope. Love . Why are these the things that last forever? And why is it so hard to grasp this simple belief?
The purpose of faith is not to influence my own comfort. It’s not designed to be self-centered but rather to be God-centered. The purpose of faith is to lead me to trust God to guide me towards the best of what I can become.
Hope is defined by Google as “a feeling of expectation and desire for a certain thing to happen.” It can also be defined as “a feeling of trust”.
The Bible sums it up in a nutshell in Hebrews 11:1, “Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not yet seen.” Wow!
Hope is believing there’s something better ahead. Faith is steadfastly holding on to that belief, no matter what.
It is a great thing to be grateful for what you have in your life. But, don’t become stagnant. Strive to do better and to be better. That’s where you’ll grow — sometimes by failing, but always by learning. Seek more. Learn more. And you’ll begin to store up important character qualities like patience, persistence, and self-confidence in who you are and who you are becoming.
And then there’s love. Love has the power to help us believe again and helps us restore hope in others too. Love is the engine that drives our spiritual life.
Panducorn is a special half-panda, half-unicorn. He’s always growing as he works through things all youngsters face. At the heart of his story is three of my favorite things — Faith, Hope, and Love.
“Stay Magical” is the tagline we chose for Panducorn and now, I think you can see why. Whatever magical means to you and your child, Panducorn brings it to life. Maybe it’s getting through an illness, dealing with being made fun of, or facing fears. Or, maybe it’s the celebration of an event or accomplishment. No matter your reason, Panducorn is there to make sure life stays magical.
Because we believe in giving back we are beginning to set up a non-profit foundation where we can provide funds to families of children with rare, incurable diseases. Our desire is to help with the financial burden that can suddenly impact them when insurance fails to cover the cost.
In the midst of such storms of life, our goal is to offer magical hope, faith, and love. We want to bring comfort and maybe even a smile during those tough times.
Of course, as you may have guessed, we think the perfect name for our non-profit organization is “Stay Magical” for that’s exactly what we hope to help those in need do…stay magical.
