At the beginning of October, I attended the Python Brazil Conference, in Belo Horizonte — MG, Brazil. 🇧🇷

The event happened over 6 days — with 3 days of talks, 2 days of tutorials and a 1 day Sprint. I gave a talk on the second day about Django Migrations — but that’s a topic for another article. 🤓

Just like last year, the main phrase stamped on the T-shirts was:

“Pessoas > Tecnologia” (Portuguese)

meaning:

“People > Technology”

This sentence was created by the organiser of Python Brazil 2016 — Mário Sérgio. He made it clear that “people are more import than technology.” This year, the new organiser — Igor Santos — decided to keep it because it’s such an accurate description of the Python Community in Brazil. …


In November 2016, I had the great opportunity of travelling to Amsterdam and attending Django: Under the Hood for the first time. This is an important conference for Django developers and provides deep and detailed talks. It’s a great opportunity to find out what is happening, learn about the future plans for Django and to meet a lot of people from the Django community—most of them from the Django Core Team. ❤

I attended the talks and the first day of Sprints. But today, I’m here to highlight some points — and tools — from one of the interesting talks by Ana Balica: Testing in Django. …

Foram dias incríveis em Budapeste e rever as fotos dos eventos me fez refletir em tudo que eu passei até chegar aqui hoje. Django Girls São José dos Campos foi o primeiro evento que eu participei, em novembro do ano passado — e mesmo sem programar em python ou mesmo conhecer Django, encontrei várias pessoas conhecidas — Fernando Masanori Ashikaga, Tony Lampada e Júlio César Eiras.

Depois de conhecer essa comunidade incrível, fui até o Rio para ser treinadora no Django Girls Rio de Janeiro e, além disso, dar uma palestra sobre a minha história desde a minha participação no evento em SJC. Também conheci mais gente e reencontrei pessoas que conheci no evento de SJC — Paula Grangeiro, Annanda Sousa e Rafaela Santos entre muitas outras que tive a oportunidade de conversar nesse dia. …
