This is where it starts

We are the daughters and sons of the King of kings.

We are the children of someone who died to know us and died to love us. Why aren’t we living like we are? We are saved and redeemed through Christ’s complete work on the cross, and even though there is nothing we can do to change this, we should still live in a way that brings Him glory and makes others want to know more about why we live this way. We should live in such a way that the love, grace, and happiness that is flowing out of us becomes addictive to others to the point where they want it for themselves.

We should live in such a way that points others to Jesus, not away, not in the general direction, but straight to the throne of righteousness.

I, like any other college student who is a follower of Jesus, feel the tug at my soul when society is telling me that I should go out and party or skip my quiet time with God, but I feel an even stronger tug to walk a very different path than the one laid out for me by Cosmo and the college scene. It is only when I choose to trust fully in Jesus and what He has for me that I am able to overcome the tug from society. It is only when I choose to trust that what God is calling me to and that what He has for me is greater than one night of “bliss” and “fun” especially when that night ends in bad decisions and hangovers. It is only when I choose to trust in the story of Jesus that I am set free from all the chains society keeps trying to throw on me.

The thing is, the story of Jesus..Our story WITH Jesus doesn’t end with trusting in Him, that’s where it begins.

It all begins with trusting in Jesus and relying on Him to take care of you.

When we trust in Jesus and allow Him to come in and change our lives for the better, the rules and laws of Christianity become something we WANT to do, not something we have to do. And it quite possibly, if we let it, not only changes our lives in a big way and changes us from world followers to Kingdom shakers, but it also ignites a fire in us that cannot die. A fire that our generation desperately needs. We need to trust in Jesus, His plan for us, and in the fire ignited in us by the One who calls us to live a life that is set apart from others.

May we be Kingdom shakers pointing others to Christ in the way we live our lives. May we be living sermons and testaments. May we trust fully in the Lord and be blessed for it. May we ignite fires in the hearts of others. May we love and follow the Lord with all our hearts, all our souls, and all our minds.

“But blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in Him.” Jeremiah 17:7

“Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding.” Proverbs 3:5

“You were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies.” 1 Cor 6:20
