Very much agree with you, thanks for your concern. The last line refers more to letting people of color lead the movement, and listening for how to best support them. It’s one thing for me to take initiative in speaking to other white people, but it’s another for me to try to lead the conversations or actions of people of color. There are many times and situations when white people should sit down and listen, and I had been trying to stand and talk in those situations because I wanted to distance myself from the white people who “didn’t get it”. It was a selfish version of activism, you know?
