Welcome
I am a young artist on an endless journey, exploring my own artistic ability and discovering my style as a designer.
I often wish I could take my parents advice and become a nurse or work for the city and secure a nice cushy pension, but I can’t, at least not while I have some fight left.
As a child I started off drawing people, a crooked circle, two eyes and four stick limbs, wonderfully oblivious to human anatomy. After I rode my first pony, my artistic subjects became rather repetitive, horses all day all the time. At around eight I was nearly perfect at it, something about the lines of the equestrian form captivated my little brain.
I knew that art had to be part of my future so, throughout high school and university, I took art. It was always easy for me to perform slightly above average and being the unmotivated person I was (that is something I’m working on) it was a natural choice. So here I am at twenty-two, trying to make sense, and a living, of it all.
I have a consistent love/hate relationship with art as many do, but I know without it I would be miserable. In this blog I will document my growth, trials and triumphs to the best of my writing ability. I hope other young designers find this comforting, or at least humorous.
It is helpful looking up to talented and established designers, but some days you just want to know you’re not the only underdog trying to get on your feet. And now, I shall quote Shakespeare:
“The which if you with patient ears attend, What here shall miss, our toil shall strive to mend.”
(Romeo & Juliet. 3.1.22–23)
