Holy shit, this made me want to shout from the rooftops. I’ve been trying to put into words my feelings about this BS, and you nailed it! Sure I’m a 36-year-old, white woman, but I will NEVER forget what it was like to be in- and post-college, “unemployable” in the early 2000 Recession (Because college degree, exactly like you explained!), totally poor, frustrated, and crying…a LOT. Just because I’m doing a hell of a lot better now DOES NOT MATTER because NOW isn’t THEN. People need to stop looking through their own eyes, walking in their own shoes, speaking through their own privilege. Take a freaking break from the judging and live a day in someone else’s shoes.
