Pamela, thank you for writing this so beautifully. I am so saddened by this, and my heartfelt condolences go out to Kate’s family and friends. You and your friend were there at exactly the moment you were supposed to be there, and your choice to get out of your car and do the best you could to help Kate and comfort her by holding her hand was not “sorely lacking” but rather, was an act of great kindness and compassion. This is what it means to be human.
