Why Is Solid Copper Jewelry Coming Back This Year?

Suppose the stars (figuratively and astrologically) are any indicator. In that case, it appears that many relics of the roaring nineties, including solid copper beads and other copper jewelry, are making a huge comeback this year. Even Grammy-award-winning singer-artist Taylor Swift was spotted in her Instagram account wearing a copper ring in a post promoting her new album “Red,” sending shockwaves globally. The ‘Red’ ring is a Cathy Waterman creation, by the way.

And it makes complete sense: copper’s natural tones include orange and reddish hues, and nothing entirely drives home the album’s visual message than a ‘Red’ ring.

It’s exciting for jewelry nuts like me to observe how the industry is evolving. Some manufacturers are taking these timeless jewelry metals and using 2021 technology to take them to new heights. For example, manufacturers are now experimenting with 3D printing technology to create figurines and jewelry from solid copper and plated copper.

Copper is one of the most recent and intriguing metal 3D printing materials, with applications ranging from electric motors to heat sinks.

Previously, 3D printing with copper was complex due to the metal’s high heat conductivity and reflection, but developments in printers and materials have mostly overcome those early hurdles. Today, 3D-printed copper propulsion systems propel rockets into space. In addition, copper heat sinks keep gaming CPUs cool, and copper coils improve the mechanical performance of electric motors.

Copper has long been a valuable metal because of its remarkable capacity to carry electricity and heat, resist corrosion, and even destroy pathogens. However, complex copper items are becoming increasingly popular as 3D printing expands the metal’s many technological possibilities.

3D printing allows for the creation of excellent detail, complex shapes, and lattice infills that would be impossible to achieve with any other method of metal fabrication. In addition, because multi-part assemblies may be 3D printed as a single item, these characteristics minimize weight, boost efficiency, and save manufacturing and assembly time.

But let’s not forget the beauty and potential health benefits of copper.

Wearing copper with stones looks lovely, but copper isn’t strong enough to hold the stones, so it’s fashioned into complicated designs and sold. Copper is a malleable metal, so the bangle or ring will mold to the curve of the wearer’s hand or finger over time. Copper jewelry can serve as an excellent health indicator.

Copper aids in the speedier metabolism of biological agents, even providing digestive relief to the wearer. Copper lore also states that it can help relieve joint issues/inflammation, headaches, and arthritis. But did you know that copper kitchenware can also help those who have a copper deficit?

Never worry about too much copper generating an imbalance because it’s absorbed slowly. Copper poisoning is a concern for certain persons who wear copper jewelry. This should not worry anyone, as copper toxicity only develops if you swallow copper. Copper jewelry is not thought to be harmful in any manner. Copper is an antibacterial and antifungal metal that is also non-toxic to our skin.
