I think it basically comes down to the whole anonymous thing. If you can’t be identified, you can say whatever you want without any repercussions, rather than do the hard work of saying what you truly feel in the light of day and dealing with whatever follows. That’s what being human is all about. It’s just as hard for women.
And for the record, the “patriarchy” has done nothing good for men in general. It asks them to be “princes” and to shoulder all the responsibility in life. It asks them to do things they don’t want to do, buy things they don’t want to buy in order to get women to even look at them. Women’s emancipation is everyone’s emancipation. If women can take care of themselves they no longer need men to be a certain way. They can just enjoy a guy for what he is — someone who has similar interests and is nice to be around. What is wrong with that? Why can’t we all just get along?
