‘Hamilton’ to be filmed before Lin-Manuel Miranda’s final bow
If you haven’t been able to pony up $500 for a seat to the hottest ticket in town, fear not, my friends: it is now being reported that the Broadway blockbuster will be filmed prior to Miranda’s summer exit.
Miranda has been in the role of Alexander Hamilton for nearly a year, and many of the other original cast members will be departing at the same time. Christopher Jackson, who plays George Washington, is one who will also bow in July. You may be able to catch him on TV this fall, however: he has just been cast in new CBS pilot show “Bull.”
This news breaks just days after we learned Miranda is slated to start alongside Emily Blunt in Disney’s sequel to Mary Poppins. The story takes place 20 years after the original film, with a world centered around Jane and Michael Banks. Blunt will take up the umbrella and carpetbag as Mary, and Miranda will play Jack, a lamplighter.
What do you think of all the Hamilton news? Will you get a chance to see the show before Miranda leaves in July? What’s your take on the Mary Poppins sequel?
