I’m sorry but these “experts” are idiots. I work extensively with a dog and cat rescue. I agree that dogs are on average more affectionate than cats, but there is SO much anecdotal evidence to support cats being very capable of loving their humans.
Recent example: a cat whose human died years ago, who was shown a video on a phone of their owner. They couldn’t take their eyes off it, and after a little while they curled up around the phone to snuggle with it 😭
Part of the issue, I think, is that other species show love in different ways, so we see types of animals (like dogs) as more loving simply because their “love language” is more similar to ours.
