Make the most of the warmer months with these fantastic family-friendly events in and around Auckland. We have put together a mix of activities, festivals, and live shows which kids will love, so you can enjoy your city this summer.

The Duck of Destiny

A special 25-minute mini-adventure, live on stage, featuring puppets, story and song. Most suited to under 5s, there are Monday and Tuesday sessions through January. More details, address, times & link to tickets here.

Elvis in the Park

Check out this free picnic day with Elvis entertainers and lots of classic hot rod cars to see. There will be food stalls and a large dancing area, on January 14th. More details, address, times & link to tickets here.

Kite Day

Fly and build kites with the Out and About team or bring your own from home. Explore Auckland and check out Milton Park on January 15th to enjoy giant games, swing-ball sets to play with and of course, kites! More details, address, times & link to tickets here.

Roller Disco

Start the weekend with roller skates and music. Head to Mahurangi Community Centre with the whole family on Friday 12th and Friday 19th of January. If you don’t have your own, you can hire skates on the night. Snacks and drinks also available. More details, address, times & link to tickets here.

Kids Music in the Park

See Suzy Cato, Jay Laga’aia, Chris Lam Sam, Mr Roberelli, Rainbow Rosalind and Judi Cranston perform a special Music in Parks concert — just for kids! Waterslide Mania

Grab the togs and head to Pukekohe for the outdoor waterslide set-up of your dreams. Not just for kids, all are welcome to enjoy two hours at a time of splashing, slipping and sliding. On Monday through Friday, check out the time, details and tickets here.

Fun Filled Days

Head to Mangere Mountain Education Centre for exploration, guided walks, games, treasure hunts, face painting and more, for curious and creative kids aged 5–12. Running weekdays in January, stay as long as you like! More details, address, times & link to tickets here.

Auckland International Buskers Festival

Waitangi ki Manukau

Aotearoa’s Steelband Festival

New Zealand’s first ever Steelband Festival will take place at Silo Park at the end of February. There will be live music from the morning, with food available, building up to a parade and mass-performance featuring all of the musicians.
