This is how I built my company, Apredica, that I started in 2006. We went profitable in 9 months. We had clients before we even opened doors. In fact, I would not have even started the company if we did not have “pre-validation”. And when I decided to sell (because the offer was timely and made sense for personal reasons), our FFF investors, who put in $5K–25K of their own hard-earned cash, made 4X. Not bad for a small CRO? I could have kept going, but I decided to take the profits from the sale, help the companies integrate, and go do other things. I am not a marathon runner. :) We used BaseCamp in 2006 for a little while and I personally really found it useful, but my colleagues did not, so having used it “solo” for a few months, I let the account expire. I regret not having pushed for it, but we were a small organization and pretty simple in terms of communication and project management. Jason Fried, applaud to you and can concur with every word. :) Happy to see you succeed.
