I see in my country too that Pride is questioned not only by some of the straight people but also by some of the LGBTQ+ community too. I must say that there’s a constant and well paid offensive(originating in the US evangelist hate groups) against the equality sought by the LGBTQ+ by pointing to the exotic or frivolous attire of Pride participants. That makes the slowly emerging LGBTQ+community somehow insecure. We debate a lot, many times heatedly inside groups about this.
In my city, Pride is organized in a very original way: each year, it has a logo that addresses the whole city community to whom the LGBTQ+ naturally belongs. We had two Prides till now and I am proud of that. I hope I can get to join the next one. I want and I need to do it , despite or maybe even because I am a very private person. But I love and I am proud of my LGBTQ+ friends. I stand with them and I see no freedom unless it is for all of us.
Tell the stories, James! We all need them. I’m hear to listen and learn.
