Well, I am sorry for your bad experience with FB, but my opinion is that this is a tool like any other and we have to learn to manage it. You’ve find that by leaving it. It’s the best thing to do if it was becoming more pain than useful activity.

As for me, I would not want Fb to close down, even if I would love my opinion to be more taken into account on how it works. I have found on FB many wonderful people that I am happy and proud to be friends. Some of those friendships grew to be close ones and we had the chance to meet. I have also perfected a lot my English language skills by conversation and I have been and keep being moral support for many friends.

You say you freaked out watching the page of departed friends still active and full of messages. I have lost some of them too. But I feel solace in remembering them along with others who loved the,m. I cannot travel to the USA or to Sri Lanka to put a flower on their grave. But I can write that seemingly futile message and recalling their memory. Yes, they are gone and know nothing about my words; but they would ignore my flowers too. So…it’s up to you how you relate to such a problem.

I use FB to follow my passion like Photography and it makes me happy to follow the artworks of gifted people I wouldn’t have known otherwise. That is for me and them something valuable.

I don’t have Messenger on my cell phone and I don’t use internet while leaving home. There is life outside Facebook but demonizing social media will not change the world for better.

In my country (Romania), Facebook is also a powerful tool of social and political debate. Yes, there’s a lot of anger, hatred and other bad things on Facebook but they were not created by it! Those are feelings that simmer inside the people expressing them and they vent it here. It’s a new era of communication, it’s not perfect but it can be perfected.Just like humans.

I would speak up for that. As for phone calls…they are not exactly cheap outside your own country. So whenever I want to talk to my friends scattered all over the world, FB is at hand and affordable.

I am happy that you have found your way out of something that was becoming mostly annoying. I look forward for your writings. Have an inspired day and don’t let anything come into your way.
