I deleted Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram from my phone and my life magically improved by 237%
I’ve been dealing with a lot of stress recently. Stress sucks. Stress makes me feel like a 40-year old living in a 20-year old’s body. Consistent levels of high stress cause heart attacks and cancer among a bunch of other serious health problems. Too much stress also makes me unhappy. I want to be happy and healthy for as long as possible, which means I hate being over stressed.
As someone who hates stress, I’ve been looking for simple ways to reduce it. Specifically, I’ve been working on removing stressful stimuli from my life.
To remove stressful things from my life, I’ve been running little experiments. I started my most successful stress reduction experiment a week ago.
A week ago, I deleted Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook Messenger from my phone. Since deleting those apps, my stress levels have plummeted and my life has improved more than I ever thought it would.
Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram controlled my life. They sucked my time and aroused feelings of jealousy, inadequacy, and fear in me. I used to check these apps whenever I had a free moment. Now, I check them infrequently on my computer. By using Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram less frequently, I’m much happier and less stressed.
I don’t worry about what my ‘friends’ are up to. When I want to talk with one of my actual friends, I give them a call or text them. I don’t focus on how many likes or retweets I’ve received in the past 10 minutes. I’ve stopped feeling awful when I don’t get a digital hit of dopamine in the form of a like or comment every half hour.
I love social networks like Facebook and Twitter as long as I’m using them infrequently. The main goal of social networks like Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram is to turn you into a social media addict. Being addicted to anything, even social media, causes immense stress and has the potential to ruin your life. Social networking apps make it easier for you to use social media more frequently. More frequent social media use then makes it easier for you to become a social media addict, which is a huge problem.
Want to cure your social media addiction and be happier, healthier, and less stressed? Then, delete Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Pinterest, Snapchat, and any other social media app from your phone that makes you feel stressed.
With just 30 seconds of work, you might extend your life for years.
