The summer before my 7th semester was spent entirely on my project Creatorlist (it’s a platform where college students can showcase their side projects), and somewhat on preparing for basic DSA questions.

There are multiple portals to apply for companies in India, some famous ones being Naukri.com, Monster Jobs, Linkedin, etc. To get internships we have the famous Internshala.

To get into traditional service based or normal companies naukri.com is good, but to get the good startups you would have to search them elsewhere and mostly they have their own career page in their website.
Startups from all across the world have a common famous platform for hiring which is Angellist.

I applied through 3 ways :
1. Angellist
2. Remote jobs portals
3. Direct company websites

  1. Angellist is popular because of its simple UI/UX and been there for a long time and has access to the required talent pool. You can apply for startups from India as well as abroad and the communication as well as job description are clearly mentioned.
  2. If you google “find remote jobs” you will get plenty of portals listing all the remote jobs available and then directly apply to them
  3. There is a Github repository containing a list of startups which hire without a whiteboard interview round (click here). They don’t do traditional interviews where there are multiple DSA rounds over the whiteboard, instead they adopt practices like take home project, pair programming, etc.
  4. There’s another informal way, which is Startup groups on Facebook and Whatsapp, you can post your resume there or reply to posts seeking candidates for a role of your interest.

I got majority of my interviews through Angellist, its an awesome platform for applying to startups of all types.

Apart from these there’s another way, which I have seen others get hired, by grabbing the attention of the CEO or one of the cofounders of the startup you want to work for. You can impress them with your skills by building an awesome project using their technology, or improving their product with your idea or something which impresses them, by this you can skip through the initial few rounds of interview and directly land into the later stages or even directly get hired.
