Casting ‘Ouch

Why is it important to discuss the ‘casting couch’? Because it exists not just in different forms of cinema, but across fields. It is silly to think that a man or woman, need sexual favours to feel validated, in their own world of ‘nonexistence’. It’s funnier to think that a man or woman feels so directionless, and ignorant that they fall for what later becomes ‘Casted, Ouch!’
“Sleep with me and I’ll show you the world”, “You should trust me..”, “ This is quite normal, you need not be afraid” are the kind of one liners corporate world biggies use in real. Every time I hear of such an experience, I am able to visualize a complete showreel of dirty business.

A lot of women face this right from the selection process itself, we often come across ads on job boards that shout out “Very Good looking female candidates, only!”. I wonder what good looks have to do with managerial skills or vice versa. While there is a lot that we can ignore, there are certainly those points that we cannot ignore. Those common signs of a sexually starved male chauvinistic boss and his loyal followers. The dirty business works both ways, there are predators, and there are ‘prey wannabes’.

I used to often feel that ‘prey wannabes’ are born out of sob stories and so they shouldn’t be judged. But that’s not always true. We have ‘boss pleasers’ from the most affluent families, from the most influential backgrounds and even from the most developed cities.

This shows how major issues concerning men and women are being normalized, how it is brushed under the carpet by people who help this ‘dirty business’ grow. How the ‘long ladder’ to success is slowly becoming a myth, and how influential minds operate.
