Diamonds are forever!

Are certificates for diamonds the same?

How many of us have bought a ring, some earrings or other jewelry while on holiday to come home and find that the expensive certificate we purchased to go with the gems in the jewelry has somehow stayed behind at the hotel or gotten washed along with the jacket it was in?

Want to present your fiance or wife with jewelry with no certificate and have to answer questions about possibly having been ripped off, buying stolen goods or trying to pass off fake stones?

Raptoreum can help

Raptoreum can help in several ways that boil down to each gem or piece of jewelry being issued with a digital certificate in the form of a unique token on the Raptoreum blockchain with an attached ipfs hash file containing all the pertinent certificate information. As long as the chain is in operation, the information will be instantly accessible and easily verifiable with a custom proof of work implementation on the chain to guard against attacks thus ensuring the safety of your data.

How does this relate to the individual gem?

We are currently developing two types of certification labeling in partnership with members of the mining industry in Sarawakian Borneo and are more than interested in expanding this.

So if you are interested in collaborating with the Raptoreum core team on developing this branch of blockchain technology, please do not hesitate to contact gems@raptoerum.com

For baked gems, natural gems that have been heated to extremely high temperatures under pressure to achieve a more desirable colour, we are working on implementing a 0.5x0.5mm laser engraving of the holding address and asset id.

With baked gems, where what the customer is paying for is color, this should not detract noticeably from the value of the gem itself.

Fully natural gems require a slightly different approach as the premium paid for such gems is directly linked to their level of flawless perfection and detracting from that in any way shape or form would be horrific.

With such gems mounted in jewelry the approach is fairly simple, attach a micro rfid chip, that broadcast the holding address and asset id of the gem or item of jewelry, to the metal part of the piece of jewelry. In addition to the full specifications on the gems incorporated in the piece, it would also contain exact weight, composition dimensions etc of the metal work.

Unmounted gems could still utilize the same rfid chip technology with collectors/merchants having the option of the attaching the chip themselves once mounted or having it attached to the box/display case.
