Ask me for anything but time!”

-Napoleon Bonaparte

There has been a fair amount of quiet from the Raptoreum team on exactly what has been going on with the different development streams. This has been due to the team discovering several bugs in our codebase which are currently in the process of being upstreamed.

I would like to lift the skirt just a little bit, for a flash of a nice pink ankle, of what has been going on in other areas of development.

It is not enough to be busy…

The question is: What are we busy about?”

-Henry David Thoreau

Well, we are fast approaching the point where asking is slowly getting taken away from us as we utilize things like the Android and IOS calendars to keep us on track and getting what we are supposed to get done, done on time.

As mentioned in earlier articles many of us on the project are, were, or plan to be small business owners meaning we are all looking for solutions for stuff we have dealt with on a frequent basis or plan to deal with on a frequent basis.

One thing many small businesses, mechanics, hairdressers, dentists, GP doctors etc. deal constantly with is appointments and scheduling. On the Raptoreum project we like to get tokens for everything worked out and this is one of them.

We are in the early stages of research of adding Google, Apple and Huawei calendar compliance to our QR code generators.

What would this mean for users:

  1. Mechanics could schedule services as and when needed. Instead of the good old-fashioned stickers with “Service by X miles.” They will be able to print or have customers scan a qr code that A) schedules next service within x time. B) Contains vehicle details. C) enables the customer to just scan a code and forget about it till notifications start popping up.
  2. Hairdressers can schedule follow up appointments for sorting roots etc. As opposed to the regular old-fashioned appointment cards scanning a QR code does not necessarily carrying around cards, having them get lost etc. This QR code either on paper or in electronic form will A) schedule next appointment within x time. B) Contains customer details. C) enables the customer to just scan a code and forget about it till notifications start popping up.
  3. For users like Dentists and Doctors there is the potential extra benefit of fully anonymizing the appointment cards ensuring a higher standard of patient privacy.

So, as you can read from the above, we are still building, researching and adding value in other ways than just bug hunting.

All the best,
