There’s no gap you can bridge if your approach is hostile.

True — you have your own, personal experience, with particular people.

But if professionals who call themselves UX designers see a distinct role for themselves (you said yourself you don’t see it happening in the future, as they will merge with PMs), they should be able to work in an environment in which they don’t let hubris dictate their moves.
