There’s quite a few introductory textbooks around, you can have a look at those, but they won’t make an obvious connection to marketing as the authors are just pure linguists. I would also suggest watching the documentary Fry’s Planet Word (Fry as in Stephen Fry) and also the accompanying book. It takes the most interesting parts of linguistics and presents it in a “aha” kind of way. Similarly, Steven Pinker’s “The Language Instinct” is more sciency in its approach than Fry’s but still presents everything in a very engrossing and entertaining way!
