Stop Lowering Your Standards
What you can offer, is what you deserve in return
In a society where men are celebrated for asking how your day was, or texting back in a timely manner — it’s no surprise that many women have lowered their standards so low, that they now resemble the bare minimum.
We’ve all heard it, “you’re too picky”.
Or how about the “he’s so lovely, give him a chance”.
Or a personal favourite, “you need to lower your standards”.
Well, I’m here to abolish that — if you can offer something, you deserve it in return. Period.
Since forever, women have been told that we need to settle, whether openly or more subtly and in not so many words. The notion that it is more important to be with anyone, than no one, is reinforced everywhere since we are tiny tots.
It’s no surprise, as I’ve written about before, we live in a society that glorifies relationships, and ironically, singles out the singletons — assured they must be somewhat empty not having found someone to sleep next to at night.
It is not abnormal for men to stay single into their late 30’s, they’re just bachelors living their best life, they can have kids when they’d like. But women? Oh, they must be undateable or heaven forbid, holding men…
