If your book is action-packed or has lots of conflict, there’s no way around it…

You will have lots of fight scenes! And describing what each person is doing can be challenging in itself. How do you do it without it being confusing? How do you do it without filler words? Or what about it making sense? These are common questions or thoughts when writing one.

Fight scenes can be crucial, they can be the thing that drives your plot home, bring excitement, and have lots of crazy action! But it’s important to do it for a reason.

Here are some important questions to ask yourself before writing:

  • Why is this fight happening?
  • Who is this fight? (Or what?)
  • What are the outcomes?
  • What is the fallout?
  • How does this impact your characters/story?

If you’re making a fight scene just to make one without considering these questions, it could seem pointless or flat. It’s important for your readers to understand why…
