IPTV on your Smart TV — A Step By Step
The problem with IPTV — for me at least — has been the lack of Smart TV support. If you sign up with an IPTV service, then chances are you will be given an M3U or M3U8 playlist link to plop into a player like VLC Player or Perfect Player on Kodi. So how can you use this with your Smart TV and get an EPG to boot? Assuming you have an IPTV service already (if you don’t, see the recommendations at the end of this story), let’s crack on!
The SIPTV Project
For the inexperienced, hearing things like M3U8, RTMP, and other jargon can be off-putting. So let’s look past all the stuff you don’t need to know, and check out a free service* called SIPTV — or Smart IPTV.
*Free for 7 days then €5.49 for lifetime access
With this neat little app, you can access your IPTV stream very easily, without any technical experience.
Install the app on your Smart TV by navigating to your app download section. This is different for all Smart TVs, but should be easily accessible once you get into the Smart Hub or Smart TV menu. The app is called “Smart IPTV” and the logo (as of Aug 2017) looks like this:
Once installed, you will need to set up your M3U playlist like this:
Step 1: Go to http://siptv.eu and click the “My List” link at the top of the screen.
Step 2: Enter the MAC code of your TV, which can be found on the settings menu of the Smart IPTV app you just installed
Step 3: Paste your M3U8 or M3U playlist into the box that says: “Add external playlist links (URLs), with auto-update” Then click “Add Link”
That’s it!!
Now all you need to do is restart your SIPTV app, and the playlist will be loaded automagically!
If you have any problems with buffering, or you’re looking for an IPTV package, I would recommend trying a well trusted premium IPTV provider like Ace TV, who offer a £2.00 24 hour trial, and full access to sports and TV (200+ channels including HD) from just 20p per day. You can check them out on Reddit by clicking the above link.
Good luck, and happy streaming!
