Being #teamnatural I’m always searching for new organic products for my hair and skin, so when I came across Eternally In Amber’s luxury hair tools, I knew I had found my match! This brand embodies the natural movement with its major ingredient, cellulose acetate. Cellulose Acetate is an organic non-petroleum based plastic that is both durable, flexible and is made of natural cotton and wood fibers. Regular synthetic plastic combs and brushes often pull and snag our hair. Eternally In Amber hair tools gently glide through the hair and will not cause static.
Having gone through the phases of learning about my natural hair, what tames my curls, the big chop after heat damage, and using products with no sulfates, I did not even think about the daily brushes and combs we use and how they can have an effect on our hair’s growth and upkeep. PARCHIA: HOW IMPORTANT WAS IT TO HAVE NATURAL INGREDIENTS IN YOUR PRODUCTS?
Eternally In Amber: For me, it was really more important for the combs to be made out of a durable and sturdy material that would also provide some visual appeal. Unlike most generic plastic combs that are offered in the market, that come in random colors like orange, blue, red, I wanted the material used to make my combs to be beautiful and speak to my sense of style. I hated seeing all of these beautiful products and styling tools on my vanity that I invested in over the years, to then look at an ugly plastic comb, that was probably a week away from having to be replaced. Having the beautiful cellulose acetate material used to make the combs be a natural material was the icing on the cake.
WHAT IS THE PROCESS LIKE HAND-MAKING COMBS AND BRUSHES, AND HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO MAKE ONE PRODUCT?
The products are hand-made by an outside manufacturer. I design the products that fit my customer’s needs. I start by drawing out the products, which I do on Photoshop or Illustrator, and choose the measurements of the products. My manufacturer takes the design and measurements and cuts the shape of the combs out of the cellulose acetate material, which come in pre-made sheets. The products are then smoothed and polished by hand. Due to this process, products take a longer time to make, which can be up to a month for production.
I LOVE THE VARIOUS COLOR WAYS YOU OFFER, SUCH AS RAINBOW AND TORTOISE SHELL! WHERE IS INSPIRATION DRAWN FROM WHEN ADDING NEW PRODUCTS TO YOUR COLLECTION OF COMBS?
The funny thing about the colors you like are that I never thought the Rainbow color would be as popular as it is. People love that color and I cannot keep anything in stock that is available in that color. I added the Rainbow color way really for kids, as I assumed my most popular color way would be the Tortoise Shell color. The pearlized Rose Shell Granite and Icy Blue Granite colors are the third and fourth most popular colors within the color way assortment of Eternally In Amber products. A large amount of the inspiration for my combs have come from the suggestions of my customers. When I first launched my business on Etsy in May of 2014, I had a small assortment of travel-sized combs. Customers continued to request larger products in the same beautiful colors of products they were ordering at the time. So I slowly started adding more comb styles and customizing the size of the combs to make them larger and more functional that other products in the market. Now with more than 8 comb styles, I’m still reevaluating my line of products and I have a few new products that I am looking forward to adding later this year.

Classic, which is the men’s line for Eternally In Amber, just launched this year with 3 comb styles in 3 amazing colors. Right now we are really trying to capture our male audience and get more feedback on this line. Additional products will be available once we get a better feel for what our male customers need.

The Eternally In Amber Box was such an exciting addition to the Eternally In Amber brand. I was at a point where I had just launched both the wood bristle paddle brushes and boar bristle brushes late last year and I really evaluated my assortment of products and thought to myself what else am I missing? I realized I didn’t need any additional products and I can only make the same products available in so many colors. So Eternally In Amber Box became an outlet to really focus on designing exclusive accessories and being able to provide customers with products in more beautiful colors that my combs or brushes are not made out of. Each box is designed around a theme and includes 2–5 accessories (depending upon which subscription you subscribe to) every other month.
BEING A YOUNG BRAND THAT’S ACCOMPLISHED SO MUCH IN TWO YEARS, WHAT’S NEXT FOR ETERNALLY IN AMBER?
I honestly feel like the brand is just getting off the ground. I must say without my loyal customer base that buys products with each and every new product launch, the brand would not be where it is today. My customers love the value and quality they receive with each product they buy and spread the word to family and friends. I really want to get the word out about Eternally In Amber and increase my customer base. In the future I look forward to attending hair events and expos to allow customers the opportunity to see and feel the products before they buy. I would also love to get products into more local salons and beauty supply stores so customers can have immediate access to our products. We have had some amazing acknowledgments, collaborations, and features within the past 2 years, but having the trust and continuous support of my customers are the biggest accomplishments thus far.
