Whom do you write for?

When I read On Writing, I had a different take away. I know King’s wife reads his work but he was also hyper aware of his fans and often mentioned working with his “true fans” in mind. He also mentioned some choices he’s made that some regard as “missteps” but he knew his true fans would understand and appreciate. This was kind of a revelation for me because I had a near-sighted approach-- I was writing for myself. And one of the things I learned reading that was to be more mindful of my audience.
