I get their argument but I see it as shortsighted and hypocritical. The split romantic and sexual model is valid. I know how of a biromantic heterosexual personally. He would love to be in a relationship with the same sex but he can’t find the sexual attraction towards them. Effectively he’d banter as it being bromances but he did actually have same sex crushes and just couldn’t find men sexually attractive regardless.
I feel a lot of the issues raised like resources is just silly. I mean, does a homosexual white man have the same resource needs as a homosexual woman of color? Hell, does a heteropresenting bisexual need the same resources as a homosexual? I feel that argument falls onto some slippery slop fear that doesn’t exist. Someone that’s a cishet ace doesn’t need the same (or any of the) resources that others in the LGBTQ group need and that’s fine.
But being non-heteronormative (including the lack of sexual attraction) still includes a person into generalized bigotry. I know you said you feel ace should be part of LGBTQ, just merely discussing the split attraction stuff and adding to the overall convo.
