10-year commemoration of historic callsign G4ZU
 Christmas Day 2015 marked a ten year commemoration of the historic callsign G4ZU
 
 Gordon ‘Dick’ Bird G4ZU
was responsible for the design of popular antennas such as the G4ZU Super MiniBeam and the ‘Birdcage’. 
 Dick passed away in 2005, and the callsign G4ZU was activated for the first time in ten years by Dick’s descendants ANZAC Gallipoli Centenary callsigns end
 What a respectful conclusion reached by the ANZAC-suffixed callsigns on December 20 — the day in 1915 that ANZAC (Australian and New Zealand Army Corp) left Gallipoli Tail slate for Marnach

First Skills Night of New Year
 The first Essex Skills Night of 2016 will be on Monday, January 18, hosted in Danbury by the Chelmsford Amateur Radio Society (CARS)

The Skills Nights are Inter-Club events attended by amateurs and SWL’s from clubs across Essex and beyond. 
 
 They provide an opportunity to try something new, share ideas, get help and advice, and socialise with others interested in the hobby

Spain gets new WRC15 5 MHz allocation for the next year
 At the end of November, the existing Spanish 5 MHz permission came to a close. Following the result of the WRC15 decision on 5 MHz the Spanish administrator has now permitted access to the new allocation 5351.5–5366.5 kHz, 15W max e.i.r.p. , 3 kHz max.
