Tough Terrain

That mountain
the one I push against
every day
indeterminable
pushing right back
purplish blue in the
distance
like a bruise
sometimes
against my battered body
can’t see the top
sometimes
for the fog
clouding the clarity
breathing is a bitch
sometimes
in this altitude
after the terrain
and those low lying
valleys are vast
sometimes
watch out for those
snags on the scrub
they’ll get you
everytime
