Benjamin: When we learn about a territory from a distance, we look for patterns and principles as guides on a landscape. Sometimes, we think these are ‘the rules’ or the ‘7 steps’ or ‘14 things’, etc. A menu is not a meal anymore than an organizational assessment is a community.
So, I would not frame this as a path or answer to anything. Some apply, some don’t; some will never show up or matter in a person’s path to ‘riches’ and some will. Lacking the contingencies and complexities of real life, this approach descends quickly into the kind of formulaic and trite BS that characterizes our industry.
I think your personal story filled with contingencies and complexities would be much more compelling.
