I don’t need someone to be the “perfect victim” in order to feel compassion for them. I think it’s pretty sad when so many people do need that.

My benchmark for feeling compassion generally requires someone to just be a victim (even of circumstance)— which is why i don’t feel any compassion for this woman.

I do feel compassion for everyone who have felt compelled by her story to give her money and who defend her. Much in the same way that i feel compassion for gullible elderly folks whose life savings are scammed by con artists.
