Very succinct way of calling out one of my biggest pet peeves about dating (though it applies to job interviews and new relationships in general as well). It’s become instinctual to project someone you think the other person wants, to fit yourself into the cookie cutter. I understand why people do this, but I also don’t understand at all. Why be someone you’re not? Inevitably it’s going to implode, sooner or later… You just can’t sustain a fake personality (knowledge, experience, habits, likes and dislikes, etc.) long term without losing yourself, wasting your own time and others’, and ultimately being miserable. Such a simple concept but so many people fail to understand it. Bravo to you for rising above and realizing that the only person you should be is YOU!
Unless you can be a unicorn. Then always be a unicorn. ;-)
