I am very thankful that I was not homeschooled. As a physically disabled child going to public school was a guaranteed seven hours a day when I was not around my family. I had to solve my own problems. People had to deal with me directly not through a family member. 12 years of public school and helped forge an identity separate from my family and gave me the ability to think and act independently without fear.

That having been said, homeschooling is a viable choice for many people. I respect it and I will protect their right to make that choice.
