but you are worried she won’t be able to sleep

At eleven: she starts middle school

but you are worried she isn’t ready for middle school

and she looks up and says “ I will be okay”

At thirteen: she tells you about her first crush

but you are worried she will be heartbroken

and she looks up and says “ I will be okay”

At fifteen: she’s a freshman in high school

but you are worried the seniors will bully her

and she looks at you and says “ I will be okay”

At seventeen: she goes to her first concert

but you are worried she will get lost

and she looks at you and says “ I will be okay”

At nineteen: she is ready to go to college

and you aren’t worried anymore

but she looks at you and asks “Will I be okay?”

You look at her and smile and say “ You will be okay, baby girl”
