I started this journey at the end of January this year 2024,

As a newbie, I wanted to share my thoughts on the medium-how I understood the algorithm works, how the engagement level is, how other writers see this platform and so on.

The first thing I want to tell you guys is that I’m not only a newbie to medium but also to writing.

Yes, I had no idea that I would end up writing a blog! This was not on my list haha. I came across Medium and blogging when I was in search of finding about affiliate marketing. That was the first thing this year I really got to know.

And so, eventually, while watching YouTube videos, I got to know about this medium platform and its effectiveness at getting traffic.

I just thought, okay why not?’’ And signed up. I had no idea about blogging as I said, but I wanted to learn and achieve something productive.

I have published four blogs as of now under the self-improvement niche, trying to give tips and by promoting my affiliate links. And then I understood by reading other articles that Medium wants us to be authentic in order to be successful on this platform.

From yesterday, after engaging quite well, I was able to get 32+ followers. I know this is just a start and might also be a little slow, but I am going to continue what it takes to perform well with this algorithm and so can you.

I quickly started to learn from other blogs, taking those as an inspiration which actually subconsciously started giving me lots of confidence and just made me write this very first blog about my thoughts on this platform. This is something I feel that is a great start for me as I am someone who never knew about writing and blogs.

And so, what I learned from this platform as of now.

1. An High engagement level leads to more followers and eventually an increase in views and reads.

2. To be authentic in order to sound interesting as well as to gain trust among your readers

3. A great title and a compelling hook leads to a lot of numbers of readers.

4. Quality and consistency are the keys to perform well.

Of course there are so many other stuffs, but as a beginner these are the points, I would like to highlight to you.

I have been interacting a lot in these last few days, like clapping, highlighting and commenting, and I just love engaging now.

And I think to achieve growth you need to,

Collect amazing ideas — whatever you think of writing, just note them down in drafts and later complete them.

I get ideas from YouTube, podcasts, books or even just gathering information about what is trending or your interests from the internet.

Keep a target — set a goal to post a certain number of blogs in a week or a month and schedule your time for it.

Improvise — Keep improving your hook or your content by analyzing which topic works for you the best. You can also find other blogs and take those as an inspiration like I did, but do not copy them, just educate yourself.

Lastly, cheers to everyone who have started their Medium/writing journey just like me!!

Reminder to me as well as to you : ‘Believe you can, and you’re halfway there.’- Theodore Roosevelt
