Why I don’t read Newspapers/Magazines

There’s a reason why i stopped reading newspapers…. well i used to go through The Guardian in the old days for vacancies,Tuesday’s i think.

And i read Tribune and Tell Magazine, i liked Next too… Their Investigative Journalism was next to none. They also seemed to be Anti-Establishment.

Well, Newspapers have Publishers.

Publishers are like the Bosses, the owners. The Late Moshood_Abiola was The Publisher of Concord as Nduka Obaigbena is that of Thisday e.g And they called the shots in This Organaizations. Sometimes Publishers were part of the Editorial Board.

The Editorial Board is made up usually of the Editor in Chief, writers, some Experts & oftentimes an Honorary member.

The Editorial Board basically dictates what the Newspaper/Magazine will say about an event or “news. They define the Policies of the Newspaper/Magazine.

Some Newspapers don’t have an Editorial Board.

All they Have is the Editor in Chief, He/she decides the content of the Newspaper.

Every single content in a Newspaper/Magazine will be vetted by the Editor in Chief or Managing Editor.

So, whats my point?

Every Single content you just read in that Newspaper,Magazine (or watch on TV) is determined by The Editor in Chief, The Editorial Board or The Publisher.

Are they people you want to be listening to?

Are they of questionable character?

Then you decide if you want to read/watch or not.

Someone’s paying for that content, one way or the other.

Someone’s editing the news for you.

That’s why i don’t read or watch the news.
