While We Google Search, “Google Searches Us”

We Give up our privacy one google search at a time. We think we are the ones gaining something from a google search, but not many of us are aware of the fact that Google has more to gain from a single one of our google searches .

We ignore privacy reminders. We don’t value our privacy as much as we say we do. If we did, we would read the Terms of Service and we would try to be more aware of what we give up when we use seemingly free services. Everyone knows that nothing in life is free, so why do we continue to believe that these services are free? Just because we aren’t paying in money doesn’t mean we aren’t paying at all. We pay with our privacy. Google sells our data to companies. Companies use our data to make us consumers.

Do we value our privacy? We say we do. Just ask anyone. We are reluctant to share our information with strangers, friends and family members, but we feel nothing when we share information with Google. Is it because we trust google? or is it because we don’t see the gravity of doing so?

What Can we Do About this?

We can’t do much. It is good enough to be aware. We rely on technology. We rely on Google. The solution is not to refuse to use their services.

There is a price to pay for everything, we just need to be aware of the price. Once we become more aware users we can then make more informed conscious decision on how we want to use their srvices. Being aware is being in Control.
